We just registered PickAPacker.com today and will eventually be using it to market custom-made packaging software that we’ve commissioned this week.

The software should be ready in about 6 weeks.

We’ll keep you updated.

…AreBlogged Launched - Wordpress Affiliate Stores

New Websites No Comments »

Whilst …AreBlogged looks identical to our …IsBlogged at first glance the two sites are very different.

…IsBlogged is designed to allow members of the public to build their own free Wordpress Blog whereas …AreBlogged is for use exclusively by us.

…AreBlogged has been installed with some powerful plugins and templates from DataFeedr which allows us to create Wordpress Affiliate Stores very quickly.  We’ve so far experimented with two stores and although they require content to be added and marketing to be done the one we are most happy with is …

babyproducts.areblogged.com

We have many customized templates already and we’ll be adding and improving stores periodically.

Our intention is to host about 50 stores on the site, each making money from affiliate links embedded in the products.

Should you be interested in doing something similar then we recommend DataFeedr which works with both Wordpress and WordpressMU.

…IsInvestigated.com Launched Today

New Websites No Comments »

This site took us no more than 10 minutes to create.

IsInvestigated.com offers a comprehensive reverse telephone lookup service which works for both land-lines and cellphones.

We have little plans to develop the site although, as with all our sites; we’ll be starting a link-building campaign over the next week.  The domain itself was one that we owned already and the scripts cost us nothing.

We don’t have big ambitions for this site, however if it can at least earn its registration fee each year we’ll be happy.

Thanks go to Charles for bringing this opportunity to our attention.

A Huge Upgrade of Joomla and VirtueMart

Computers, Existing Websites, New Websites, Older Websites, Success No Comments »

After spending a lot of time and money on modification to Art From Steel we learnt that the current setup cannot run under PHP5.

Our webhost will be disabling PHP4 next month and rather than spend more time patching up the current site, we’ve taken the plunge and upgraded both Joomla and VirtueMart. to version 1.53 and 1.1.1.  Whilst these numbers don’t seem like much, those with experience can attest that the upgrades make huge leaps forward from what we’ve previously worked with.

We’ve spent a lot of time with Joomla over the past few months and have an excellent understanding of how to configure it.  We are able to put a functional site together with a nice template, valuable components and modules within a couple of hours now.  We then need to add content and get custom graphics created.

We’ve built 4 sites in the last 3 days.  They all require more content, graphics and tweaks before they’re ready but we’re delighted with the increase in our productivity.

We are working on these new sites in the background and once things are ready we’ll activate them.

A few features we’re excited about on most of these sites are:

  • Improved site designs with modern clean images and styles

  • Improved coupons and gift vouchers

  • An integrated blog for each major site

  • Improved shipping cost calculations

  • Accounts for wholesale and retail clients with different prices and order quantities

  • Testimonials:  text, photos, audio and video

  • Reviews and star-ratings for each product

  • Integrated link pages

  • Mailing list subscriptions built into the member registration form.

  • An RSS Feed for each site

As these sites get completed, expect more updates from us. Realistically we’ll be moving nearly all of our significant sites to Joomla over the coming few months.  We are huge Joomla fans and love how easy it is to modify and expand site that use it.

New Energy-Saving Website

New Websites No Comments »

Whilst PlugandSave.com is doing incredibly well, we find that the platform it was built with is very inflexible and the site is very hard to update.

We are now working on a new site that will incorporate all the information from PlugandSave.com and will cover other energy-saving products and services such as energy-efficient lighbulbs, solar energy, e-books etc.

We have now registered a domain name and have begun populating the site and modifying the template.  It should be complete and ready to launch within 5-6 weeks. It’s being built with Joomla 1.5 as we’ve gained a lot of experience using it.

We’ll update you once the design and content is ready.

Our First Lead-Generation Website

New Websites, Opportunities No Comments »

We’re working in partnership with an established financial consultants in Thailand to generate leads.

Today we registered a new domain name and have installed a basic HTML template on it.  It will be 3-4 weeks before the site is completed as we’re docusing on two other sites as well.

We registered today with Mark Vurnum’s Lead-Generation Video Course and, based on the first 30 minutes of his tutoriual videos we are impressed and excited to get started.  It seems like the hardest part about lead-generation is finding businesses to buy leads and yet we’ve got this already finalized.

We’ll update you in a few weeks once the site is ready for inspection.

4wd2.us (Forward to Us)

New Websites No Comments »

We found a free URL redirection script before and wondered if we could find ourself a short and witty URL to use it with.

Introducing Forward To Us

We aren’t certain what we’ll do with this interesting URL but we’ve set it up as a free URL-forwarding service.

WeI’ll be using this ourselves to hide our own affiliate links.

PlugAndSave - Slash Your Electric Bills by up to 40%

New Websites No Comments »

Yesterday we launched PlugandSave which sells Power-saving electronic devices.

About 12 months ago Tik and I discovered these units being demonstrated in Thailand and we got in contact with the factory.

I created a quite crude sales-letter site (now offline) which had an even cruder Paypal integration (after every customer ordered, they had to be emailed to ask for their address). I wrote a few articles to market the site and let it run itself. A few times each month we’d telephone the factory, collect one or two units and take them to the post office a few days later. We made a good profit on the units but didn’t really consider expanding on it for some time.

HeresYour.info - Our Own Academic Search Engine

New Websites No Comments »

One of our goals for now is to make sure that all 130+ of the domains we are sitting on get used productively.

We posted a survey on a popular webmaster website recently asking for members to comment on which domains we owned that they liked.

We were surprised to note that HeresYour.info came out most popular and last Sunday it took us took just 30 minutes to build a new site on the domain.

Google will allow for you to build your own custom search engine, selecting which sites you want to have included in the results. You can also integrate the search results with your adsense account too.

HeresYour.info is a simple academic search engine that includes only academic journals, encyclopedias and research websites in it’s results.

Initial testing shows it’s working great.

This is certainly not going to be a big money-making site but it’s one of many which we just hope to ‘incubate’ because in a few years the domain name will become quite valuable.

As long as we can increase the page rank, get some traffic to the site, get included in Google results and cover our hosting fee’s we’ll be happy with this site.

New PlugandSave Site Goes Live

New Websites No Comments »

I’ve asked my developers to upload my new Plug and Save website although its a few weeks away from completion.

This site sells power saving devices which we can acquire in Thailand. We’ve developed a good relationship wit the manufacturer and have arranged an OEM deal with them. As you’ll see from the images on the new site, compared to those of the old one we’ve redesigned the units so that they are only in English and look a lot more credible.

This is a huge improvement over the old 1-page sales letter site and one day I plan to build it up into a credible business with many resellers, affiliates and dropshippers working under me.

I’m spending my time on other things right now but I know that this is a high-potential business. I expect it’ll sit on the sidelines for the next few months and I’ll get to work on it early 2008.
